While in June 2015 just under a quarter of providers were reporting a hike in the fees they charge, that figure had risen to more than three quarters by June 2022.

Just one in five providers held prices in 2022, compared with more than a third the previous year, amid concerns in the children's sector over profiteering in children's social care.

Only one respondent reported reducing fees.

The findings have been revealed in this year’s State of the Sector survey by the Children’s Home Association (CHA), which represents providers including those in the private sector.

A report into the findings says that “fee rates are increasing at a rate quicker than at any point in this series of surveys dating back to 2015”.
