Ray Lewis to face inquiry over misconduct

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has launched an inquiry into allegations made against his deputy Mayor for young people, Ray Lewis.

The allegations concern financial misconduct and sexual harassment and date back to the 1990’s when Lewis worked as a clergyman.

Lewis, who was appointed by Johnson to tackle gun, knife and gang crime among young people in the capital, said: 'I have never harassed anyone. I have never defrauded anyone. I am happy to face questioning and investigation on all these charges.

He added: I look forward to drawing a line under this episode, so that I can get on with working to improve the lives of young people in this city.

Johnson has defended Lewis, saying he wants the allegations fully investigated but feels Lewis is being made to suffer for having the guts to serve in this administration.
