The summit comes in advance of new duties that take effect from April 2015.
Under the provisions of both the Children and Families Act, and the Care Act, local authorities will be legally required to assess the support needs of young carers and young adult carers and provide services to meet those needs.
As well as presentations setting out the policy imperative, the event will include several case studies of local good practice and provide guidance on involving health services and schools.
The new responsibilities require professionals across children’s social care, adult social care, health and education to identify young carers and provide appropriate, joined-up support.
The event – aimed primarily at commissioners and heads of services – takes place from 10am until 4pm on Thursday 6th November at The Hatton conference centre in Farringdon, central London.
