Education
The government has set up a study to examine how data from independent schools can be included on its database of children and young people.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families wants to find how whether it will be feasible to set up a regular collection of data, how this could be carried out, and what it will cost.

In response to a Parliamentary question on the subject, junior children's minister Kevin Brennan said:

"Local authorities have been encouraged to approach independent schools in their area, to raise awareness of ContactPoint and to begin to identify which staff in independent schools should have access to ContactPoint."
