Prince's Trust to invest in riot-hit communities

1 min read Youth Work
The Prince's Trust is looking to invest 2.5m in supporting young people living in riot-ravaged communities.

The charity is to invest £1m of its own funds in projects in the worst hit areas of Manchester, Birmingham and London’s Hackney, Tottenham and Croydon. It is also looking to raise a further £1.5m from businesses.

Projects will focus on education and training to help young people gain work.

The charity’s chief executive Martina Milburn said: "The tragic events of last week have left communities torn apart. Many young people are now very vulnerable. We know the vast majority of young people were not involved in the criminal activity and it is these young people we need to protect from the devastating aftermath of the riots."
