Poll of youth views aims for one million votes

1 min read Youth Work
Children and young people across the UK are being urged to take part in a survey to decide the key issues that youth leaders will debate in the House of Commons later this year.

The annual Make Your Mark campaign asks young people to choose from a list of 10 the social issues most important to them.

Organisers for the ballot, which opens today, are hoping to receive one million votes, topping last year's figures which saw a total of 964,766 young people aged 11 to 18 participate.

Now in its eighth year, the initiative has previously covered issues such as reforming the curriculum, further support for young carers, improving mental health services and protecting school budgets.

This year's topics include tackling homelessness and knife crime, support for youth services, ending period poverty, mental health in schools, and making public transport cheaper and more accessible.
