A joint-targeted area inspection, carried out by Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services and HM Inspectorate of Probation, found a strong commitment across agencies to protect and support children at risk of sexual abuse.
Inspectors said they were particularly impressed with the strength and sensitivity of direct work with children. This includes offering a wide range of specialist support in areas such as therapy, with Cornwall County Council's Jigsaw service singled out for praise.
This provides psychological support to children and their carers in sexual abuse cases, based around 10 sessions that have a focus on emotional support, assuring confidentiality and ensuring children can be safe in the future.
