Ofsted has awarded its first "outstanding" grading for a local safeguarding children board (LSCB), with the organisation earning praise for its "inspirational" leadership, and "outstanding" partnership working.

Inspectors said that the dual board, which covers both the City of London and Hackney, demonstrates "a relentless focus on quality and a passion for improvement" and makes a real difference to children's lives.

Both Hackney Council and City of London received an overall "good" rating for their children's services as part of separate inspections.

"The [LSCB] has inspirational leadership, which is open and reflective, with a relentless focus on quality and a passion for improvement," the inspection report for Hackney states.

"Outstanding partnership working has enabled the board to respond to emerging safeguarding issues through highly effective strategic approaches that positively influence children's lives.
