
The launch of the "Big Listen", set to begin in the next few months, coincides with Sir Martyn beginning his five-year stint as Ofsted chief inspector.
The Big Listen will allow parents and professionals across all the sector's Ofsted regulates to directly feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the inspectorate's current approach to inspections and regulation.
Sir Martyn also announced that routine school inspections will be paused until a package of training on mental health awareness has been delivered to inspectors.
This has come after the Ruth Perry inquest verdict last month called for urgent Ofsted reform. Sir Martyn will oversee delivery of the initial training, with Mental Health First Aid England rolling out the programme further, with routine inspections expected to restart in late January.
