NYA: 'Fundamental change' needed to tackle unemployment crisis

Guarantees are needed for young people to be helped to find employment and training opportunities, including being offered more support from youth workers, a new report from the  National Youth Agency (NYA) and Youth Employment UK argues.

Outside, Looking In highlights official figures, for October to December last year, that show up to one in nine young people are out of work, with just under 800,000 16- to 24-year-olds classified as not in education, training or employment (NEET).

The report calls for a commitment from government to recruit more qualified youth workers to help young people receive training and support to ensure they are “work ready”.
