NSPCC denies restructure will put jobs at risk

The NSPCC has refuted claims it is putting jobs at risk by closing local service centres.

As part of its shake-up it is reported the charity will be closing 150 local service centres over the next three years and replacing them with 40 regional offices.

The news has sparked concerns that many of the 800 child protection staff will be forced to move to retain their jobs.

But the charity said its strategy up to 2016 will put more professionals on the front line.

NSPCC chief executive Andrew Flanagan said: "Our strategy is one for growth not cutting back. We will have more impact for children, will grow our front-line staff and our national role."
