The probation inspectorate’s report rated the team above average in all three major categories.
Safeguarding work was carried out well 81 per cent of the time, compared to an England and Wales average of 68 per cent. Work to protect the public was carried out well 72 per cent of the time, 10 per cent above the average. Work to reduce reoffending was conducted well 78 per cent of the time, seven per cent above the average.
The case of a 17-year-old unemployed boy who was given a referral order for robbery, was among the reoffending work highlighted by inspectors during their visit in March.
