North Yorkshire schools set to receive 2.6m to help pupils with SEN

1 min read Education
Schools across North Yorkshire will benefit from a 2.6m fund to provide "enhanced resources" for vulnerable children and young people, if approved by council chiefs.

The cash, which is up for approval next week, will form the second phase of North Yorkshire County Council’s £5m capital programme to enable children with special educational needs (SEN) and learning difficulties to attend their local mainstream school, wherever possible.

A council spokesman said: "From the beginning of September local schools will be better able to provide for more children by accessing support and outreach from a network of local enhanced mainstream schools acting as centres of expertise."

The council has commissioned services from 25 inclusive schools and provided them with improved facilities and 20 new teachers. They will also be supported by extra parent support advisers and teaching assistants.
