MPs to scrutinise school testing regime

Education
The testing and assessment system in England has gone as far as it can, the chair of the newly formed Children, Schools and Families Select Committee has said.

The committee launched an enquiry into this area on Monday 10 December at its first meeting, and plans to report in the spring.

Sheerman said he also expects the government to make a statement on testing when the Children's Plan is launched.

The Children, Schools and Families committee has been established to monitor the work of the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

Over the next year it will also be looking at the national curriculum, children's trusts, teacher training and parenting.
