
Members of the all party parliamentary group (APPG) on cerebral palsy say that better early intervention, tailored to children’s specific needs is necessary.
This should be alongside “high-quality ongoing therapeutic, medical and educational provision” from “experienced and specialist professionals”, they say.
This support also needs to be regularly reviewed as children develop, the MPs add in their latest report on support for children with this lifelong neurological condition.
Their report has been published to coincide with World Cerebral Palsy Day (October 6).
MPs are also concerned over a variation in the quality of care regionally.
One parent surveyed said: “I have to fight for everything. I have to ask and repeat and remind and cajole. The next mum will have to do the same.
