The funding will be used to extend the VRU’s community-led MyEnds programme from eight areas to 11. Each borough will receive £800,000 to deliver youth work from until April 2026.
Early intervention, youth work and preventative activities will be delivered across the 11 boroughs, with Barking and Dagenham, Brent, Islington and Lewisham the latest to be added to the scheme as part of the new investment.
Grassroots organisations, local youth leaders and young people with parents and carers will begin delivering youth work and targeted interventions to support young people and prevent violence.
The remaining 21 boroughs will receive a share of a £6.7mn funding pot to create their own preventative borough-led activities.
