
Paris Brown, 17, made a public apology yesterday after The Mail on Sunday reported that her Twitter account featured offensive remarks, as well as boasts about her sex, drug-taking and drinking.
Calls were made for Brown to resign from the £15,000-a-year post and she gave a tearful interview, which was broadcasted on national television, to explain her comments.
Kent’s police and crime commissioner (PCC) Ann Barnes has stated that Brown's job is safe, but former children’s minister Tim Loughton told CYP Now he fears the coverage could discourage other PCCs from recruiting young people.
He has called for PCCs to stand firm on the principle of youth engagement.
