Lords push government to publish Care Review implementation plan

In a letter to former minister for schools and childhood Kelly Tolhurst – who has since resigned from her post – peers call on the government to deliver on its promise to publish an implementation strategy in response to the Independent Review of Children's Social Care's final report - which was published in May - by the end of year.

It is also urging government to highlight the "importance of early intervention" in its reponse.

The Care Review, chaired by Josh MacAlister, found that the children's social care system in England is “increasingly skewed to crisis intervention, with outcomes for children that continue to be unacceptably poor and costs that continue to rise”.
