Former Prime Minister Liz Truss previously committed to publishing an implementation strategy to reform the social care system before the year’s end, in response to the findings of the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care.

The Care Review’s final report by chair Josh MacAlister, sets out more than 80 recommendations to reform the children’s social care system, describing the current system as “increasingly skewed to crisis intervention.”

During a backbench parliamentary debate, Coutinho, who was appointed earlier this month, said that the implementation strategy is a “huge priority”, and said she is “committed to publishing our implementation strategy early in the new year.”
