Charity urges government to commit to ending children’s social care crisis

Charity The Family Rights Group said that the government’s implementation plan and response to the Care Review, which was recently delayed until early 2023, needs to deliver a “just, fair and honest” child welfare system, which centres on safe and loving relationships.

It added that all reforms should be scrutinised in partnership with children and families with lived-experience of the social care system.

The Family Rights Group is calling for government to make five key commitments to reform children’s social care, which include:

Investment in family help so that children and families receive early support to prevent problems from escalating.
