London Youth announces new chief

London Youth has appointed Rosemary Watt-Wyness, director of services and support at the Multiple Sclerosis Society, as its new chief executive.

Watt-Wyness will start the job on 7 April 2016, when she takes over from the charity's current chief executive Rosie Ferguson.

?Watt-Wyness' background includes being the former chief executive of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender mental health charity PACE Health, as well as the director of strategy and policy at the Prince’s Trust. ?

“I am excited to be joining London Youth,” she said. “It is an organisation I feel has made a great contribution to the youth sector in London and to the lives of young Londoners. ??

“I have been really impressed with their positivity and the hugely important work they do with young people and their member clubs.”

Ferguson will step down from her position in March after spending 11 years at the organisation – the last four of them as chief executive. She will take six months out to go travelling before returning to the UK in September 2016.??

She said: “I’m already learning from her [Watt-Wyness] in the short time I’ve known her. I am confident she will ensure the organisation and our network continue to thrive and make an even bigger difference with and for young Londoners.”??

Julian Beare, chair of London Youth, added: “We’re very much looking forward to Rosemary coming on board and to benefiting from her new energy, ideas and expertise, building on the brilliant platform the team has built over recent years.”
