Colbert has been director of children’s services at Sunderland City Council and chief executive of delivery company Together for Children (TfC) for six years.
She joined in 2018 following an “inadequate” Ofsted judgment for children’s services and has overseen the department’s improvement to “outstanding” at its last inspection in late 2021.
Colbert was also awarded and OBE (Order of the British Empire) at the late Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2022.
She joins Nottingham at the end of September, with the challenge of turning around its children’s services after the department was rated inadequate two years ago.
