Jamal Edwards: Youth work organisations pay tribute to ‘young people’s champion’

Youth work organisations have paid tribute to Jamal Edwards who has died aged 31.

The music entrepreneur and YouTube star was an ambassador for the Prince's Trust and a patron of the National Citizen Service (NCS) between 2015 and 2021.

Jamal died on Sunday morning (20 February), his company SBTV has said.

Both the NCS and Prince's Trust have paid tribute. 

Jamal, who helped launch the careers of Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J and was awarded an MBE for services to music in 2014, “focused his efforts on championing young people”, the NCS said.

NCS brand officer, Miriam Jordan Keane, said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jamal Edwards, our former patron. Our thoughts are with Jamal’s mother, Brenda, and his family.
