Launching its manifesto at its two-day conference, the Youth Sport Trust said sustained investment in school sport is the only way to secure a lasting Olympic legacy for young people.
The manifesto also calls on the development of junior sport clubs on school sites to increase the number of young people moving on to club sport.
18-year-old Oli Hooper is a young ambassador for the trust. He said: "Sport brought about a remarkable change in my life and transformed me into someone who is far healthier, far more active, and most of all, far happier as a result of having sport as part of my life."
