1 min read Children's Services
The March edition of CYP Now features a 12-page special report on therapeutic care for children and young people.

The special report takes an in-depth look at how rising levels of trauma and mental health problems among children young people is requiring more therapeutic interventions in residential settings, the family unit and across communities. Practice examples include: support for adopted children; therapeutic environments in secure settings; and how art therapy is helping girls affected by violence.

Following the publication of the three-year Independent Care Review in Scotland, six experts assess what lessons policymakers can take for the upcoming care review in England.

In addition, the main feature is on Leeds-based charity Getaway Girls, which has supported vulnerable young women for more than 30 years and received the charity award at the CYP Now 2019 Awards.

  • Youth justice – Ex-chief inspector of prisons Nick Hardwick says better training can tackle rising use of restraint in youth custody
