In the latest edition of CYP Now: Cost of living; regional adoption agencies; and apprenticeships special

The January 2019 edition of CYP Now looks at how a rise in the cost of living and increased economic uncertainty has hit the personal finances of the children's service workforce.

There are contributions from six frontline practitioners across different parts of the children's sector reflecting on how they make ends meet.

The main analysis assesses the progress made in the development of regional adoption agencies, with evidence emerging that some areas are improving the process while others are struggling to attract staff and develop IT systems.

The 12-page special report takes an in-depth look at the government's progress to create three million apprenticeships by 2020, many for disadvantaged young people. Practice examples include: Sheffield City Council developing ties with local employers; the apprenticeship store in Stockport; pre-apprenticeship support in Kent; and the Drive Forward Foundation's work programme for London care leavers.
