In the January edition of CYP Now: Care leavers, early help and home education

1 min read
January's edition of CYP Now includes contributions from five care leavers who write in their own words about their experiences of care.

The feature also includes the care leavers' reflections on how the care system can be changed for the better.

The special report is on the latest policy, practice and research developments in early help services, with a key theme being the development of multi-agency working to tackle problems earlier.

Practice examples featured in the 12-page special report include: an intervention for juvenile fire starters in London; a return to school programme run by charity School-Home Support; the Shine programme for young mothers at Hudson Children's Centre; and Family Partners run by Action for Children in Sandwell.

In addition, an analysis explores the factors behind the recent rise in elective home education and assesses the impact on safeguarding.

The main interview is with education select committee chair Robert Halfon MP, who talks about the need to reinvigorate social justice.
