In the latest edition of CYP Now, early years expert James Hempsall assesses the evidence on the difference in communication skills between disadvantaged children and their better-off peers - dubbed the 30 million word gap.

He outlines the wide range of initiatives and programmes aiming to close the gap and help disadvantaged children catch up.

Also, a 12-page special report takes an in-depth look at the latest policy, practice and research on tackling gangs and child criminal exploitation (CCE).
