The resource, published by the Howard Legue for Penal Reform and aimed at people aged 21 and under, was designed after the organisation’s helpline saw a high number of calls from young people asking for advice around licence conditions.

The Howard League highlights a “lack of understanding” of such conditions among many young people who are recalled to the youth secure estate or to adult prisons.

“We often help young people get released from prison, only for them to be recalled shortly after leaving. Frequently, it is because the young person does not understand their licence conditions, how serious they are, and what it means if they breach,” according to the Howard League.
