Health minister launches safeguarding resource

1 min read Health Social Care
Public health minister Anne Milton has launched a child protection training resource to help paediatricians deal with suspected cases of abuse.

It is designed to strengthen professional development for all doctors and specialists who work closely with children and young people, since every paediatrician has to take a recognised child protection course as part of their training.

Anne Milton argued that paediatricians have a key part to play in helping keep children safe.

"I am therefore delighted to launch this excellent training resource," she said. "It will help paediatricians keep their knowledge and skills up to date – ensuring the best possible care for our children."

Professor Terence Stephenson, president of RCPCH, claimed that the training would improve partnership working.

"The RCPCH aims to educate all paediatricians at every level of their training and ongoing career to recognise and respond appropriately to possible cases of child abuse," he explained.
