Haringey Council has sacked four more employees as part of its investigation into the Baby P scandal.

Three council managers and one social worker have now lost their jobs, amid allegations that they failed to protect the 17-month-old baby, who was on the council's at risk register.

Deputy director of children's services, Cecilia Hutchen, was dismissed by a panel of councillors because of alleged "loss of trust and confidence."

Head of safeguarding services Clive Preece, team manager Gillie Christou, who approved the decision to return Baby P to his home, and Maria Ward, the social worker in charge of baby P's case, have also lost their jobs. All three were dismissed for alleged gross misconduct.

The council has decided that another social worker under investigation, Sylvia Henry, had no case to answer.
