
The east London local authority says it has decided to settle the judicial review, brought by five children and their families, “following advice from its external legal advisors”.
The consultation into the overhaul of children’s centres will now be quashed and the council has agreed to pay the legal costs of the families who launched the review.
“The council stands by the need to make changes to the way we provide subsidised childcare in order to make our early years provision more sustainable, as a result of rising costs, staffing challenges and overall financial pressures on local authorities,” said Hackney council in a statement.
