In the Local Government Finance Statement 2025/26 published yesterday (Thursday), the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) said the new grant will see investment in preventative children’s social care rise to more than £500mn next year.

In the statement, the MHCLG said the funding will “lay the groundwork for children’s social care reform”.
