Between 2010/11 and 2018/19 the early intervention grant fell from £2.8bn to £1.1bn. The LGA says that reinstating the £1.7bn that has been cut over the last decade “would provide a significant boost to early help services and the children and families who need them”.
The call comes in the LGA report A Child-Centred Recovery, which outlines measures needed to support children and families as the country continues to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
