The National Advisory Council on Children's Mental Health and Psychological Wellbeing, which will be in place by the end of the year, will ensure the government is held to account on its progress in implementing the review's recommendations. A national support programme, which will build on the work of the existing National Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Support Service, will co-ordinate organisations in the sector to give every practitioner the support required to achieve the aims of the review.
Jo Williams, former chief executive of Mencap, will chair the new council alongside vice chair Lesley Hewson, consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and director of CAMHS for Bradford District Care Trust.
