Government appoints head of mental health review

Health
The government's review of child and adolescent mental health services is to be led by Jo Davidson, director of children's services at Gloucestershire Council.

Davidson’s job in Gloucestershire covers all services for 0- to 19-year-olds, and she is also chair of the Department for Children, Schools and Families’ 0-7 Children’s Plan group.

The review of mental health services was announced in the Children’s Plan.

It will aim to identify and highlight best practice, and see how this information can be used to improve services in locations and on subjects where work has been less successful.

In particular the government wants to assess how early intervention in schools, and greater partnership working, can lead to improvements in child mental health.

Davidson said: “Over the next few weeks we will define more precisely the review’s terms of reference.
