In a speech given at the Charity Commission today, Theresa May pledged to make improving mental health support a key priority for the government.
This will include a major review of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), to be led by the Care Quality Commission to identify good practice as well as areas of work in need of overhaul.
The review will be followed by the publication of a green paper, which will detail plans to improve services in schools, higher education and for families.
May also pledged that by 2021 all children would be able to access mental health support locally rather than be forced to travel long distances for specialist care.
In addition, online mental health support will be expanded to further improve access.
