Former England football star Ian Wright is set to launch a programme to develop a more active and healthy lifestyle among hard-to-reach children.
The “Fitter Kids” programme, which is aimed at 11 to 15-year-olds, is designed to raise understanding of the benefits of being more active for those at risk of ending up not in education, training or employment after the age of 16.
Managed by the Fit for Sport Foundation it will run in sports and leisure centres in partnership with local schools.
Managing director Dean Horridge said: “Our aim is to help these children make simple, achievable and sustainable changes to their lives in order to help them develop a sense of purpose, ambition, self-fulfilment and, most importantly, an understanding that they have a role to play in our society.”
