
The Effective Practice Classification Panel categorised the three projects as “promising” – a status that lifts them above most of the other initiatives currently listed on the Youth Justice Board’s (YJB) effective practice library.
The vast majority are categorised as “emerging”, because there is either limited, or no evaluation information available on them.
The panel, comprised of independent academics, has been set up by the YJB to help identify examples of promising practice.
Two of the earmarked initiatives are around resettlement support for young people leaving custody – the resettlement consortia project and pilot resettlement support panels.
The third initiative – The Swansea Bureau – is a restorative justice and support project for first-time entrants to the youth justice system.
