Education News: Sexual education - Links to support servicesneeded

Schools must develop links with a range of support services through drop-in centres or extended schools to better meet young people's sexual health needs, Ofsted recommended last week.

The watchdog's report into personal, social and health education, Timefor change?, found that some parents and teachers were not good atdiscussing sensitive issues such as sex education. But it praised thepart school nurses play, particularly in terms of providingcontraception and the morning-after pill and said the establishment ofextended schools was beginning to meet young people's needs.
