Providers are currently required to keep children in “bubbles” of 15 or less to help stop the spread of coronavirus, however, this limit is set to be lifted before the summer break in a move welcomed by the sector.

Providers are advised to keep children in as small a group as possible and avoid mixing between groups “where possible”.

The guidance also calls on providers to update risk assessments to reflect the current climate and ensure regular cleaning of settings and hand washing among children and staff.

Sector leaders, who have expressed widespread concern over restrictions and which have forced some nurseries to close due to financial pressures, have said removing limits will provide more “sustainability” for providers.
