Early intervention can break cycles of deprivation

1 min read
Damaging cycles of deprivation can be broken if children are supported early enough by the right services, a new report has claimed.

Charity Action for Children says the debate on how to lift families out of deprivation has been too simplistic, concentrating on income alone when the most vulnerable families experience complex deprivation made up of a range of severe needs and difficulties.

The report, Deprivation and Risk: The Case for Early Intervention, makes the case for early intervention services with a proven track record in turning lives around.

Adding weight to the argument, the report features a cross-section of experts analysing how inequality, health and wellbeing, education, housing and social mobility influence social deprivation. They also offer their own solutions as to how current trends can be reversed.
