Another baby known to Doncaster's troubled children's services department has died in suspicious circumstances.

The 10-week-old baby boy, who was known to the children's services department, died on Monday just hours after the new mayor Peter Davies was sworn in.

Interim director of children's services Gareth Williams said: "Doncaster social care services did know the family but the council is unable to comment further as this is a police matter.

"A serious case review is likely to be undertaken in due course by Doncaster Local Safeguarding Children's Board."
