Dartford academy gets go ahead

Education
A 25m pound academy in Dartford has been approved by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

The institution will replace an existing school, Axton Chase, and will specialise in science and creative and expressive arts.

Kent County Council said the local community will benefit from the changes, with access to redeveloped educational and leisure facilities.

Building work is not expected to start until 2009, although the academy will begin operating from the existing school premises from September 2008.
