Committee considers calling for legislation to prohibit underweight models; Ofsted finds a secure training centre has improved; and guidance launched for to help professionals to young people with life-limiting conditions about sex and relationships, all in the news today.

The all-party parliamentary group on body image is considering pushing for legislation to ban underweight and underage models. The Guardian reports that the committee heard from campaigners calling for new laws for health standards in the fashion industry, as well as health experts and a models' union.


A secure training centre in Rugby that was rated “inadequate” has improved since the last time it was inspected, a report by Ofsted has said. According to the watchdog, Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre now “requires improvement” overall.?


Guidance has launched for those working with young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions that want to talk about sex, sexuality and relationships. Designed by The Open University and Together for Short Lives, the guidance aims to provide advice for health, social care and education staff.?


The government has approved a new regional adoption agency involving children’s charity Coram, five local authorities (Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Norfolk, Central Bedfordshire and Bedford), and two voluntary adoption agencies. The Bucks Free Press reports that the new agency, which it is hoped will be up and running by March 2016, will reduce the time children spend in care, increase the number of adopters and widen support services.


Young families are being targeted by an NHS Highland campaign on attitudes to alcohol. The Press and Journal reports that the area's director of public health warned that children as young as three begin to develop a relationship with alcohol based on their family's attitudes.
