Entries for the 2011 Children & Young People Now Awards have been whittled down to create a shortlist in each of the 20 categories.

The awards, now in their sixth year, remain in rude health; more than 420 entries were received in total from right across the country.

An expert panel of adult judges scrutinised all the entries, with a panel of young judges examining the shortlisted entries to help determine the winners.

This year, winners of each category will be notified this month in advance of a reception, which will take place on the evening of Thursday 17 November in Hammersmith, west London. Thank you to all those who entered.
