The funding is available for independent, private and voluntary social care organisations to help staff taking Level 3 and 4 NVQs in health and social care, and Level 4 NVQ in leadership and management before March 2010, and is in addition to £3m of training funding made available this year.
The fund is also available to foster care providers registering foster carers to undertake Level 3 NVQ in health and social care.

He said: "We will continue to monitor the take-up of the funds to ensure the timely assessment of any need for further funding."
