
Inspectors praised the borough - which has been in special measures since March 2023 after declaring de facto bankruptcy in 2021 with a £1.5bn debt and significant overspends - for improving in most areas since its last full inspection in 2020.
The inspectorate’s report was published as the Metropolitan Police confirmed this week that it had dropped a criminal investigation into alleged financial mismanagement by the previous executive, the BBC reports.
Following an inspection in October 2024, Ofsted judged as ‘good’ the impact of leaders on social work practice with children and families, the experiences and progress of children in care, and the experiences and progress of care leavers.
