The aim is to combine the charity’s experience innovating services, with councils’ work with disadvantaged families and knowledge of local services.

Nesta is particularly keen to work with councils in areas have a large attainment gap between children from low-income families and their more affluent peers.

Areas with a high proportion of disadvantaged children, who are not meeting their expected levels of development, are also encouraged to apply.

“The partnerships will form around the shared mission of supporting the most disadvantaged children to reach school with a good level of social, emotional and cognitive development,” said Nesta.
