
In the joint report Tackling Child Sexual Exploitation: Helping local authorities to develop effective responses, the two organisations bring together good practice examples from local authorities, local safeguarding children boards and police forces.
Ahead of the progress report on the Department for Education’s action plan on sexual exploitation, the report states that there are five elements to any effective response to child sexual exploitation.
Underpinning local responses is the need to raise awareness of the issue among children and young people as well as professionals and parents. Areas are also advised to monitor the levels and character of exploitation on a regular basis and develop a strategy that involves multiple agencies once children are identified as being at risk of exploitation.
